Each season Girls on the Run of Southwest Missouri identifies and selects a dynamic group of coaches to lead each of our teams of 8-20 girls. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students and other community members who are committed to developing and celebrating our girls.
The Head Coach is a volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run curriculum to program participants. This position entails approximately four hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach at a Girls on the Run program site while serving as a role model and mentor for program participants. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
The Junior Coach is a volunteer position for high school students to assist the Head and Assistant Coaches at a Girls on the Run program site. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
There will be three coach training sessions (listed below). Please select the session you’ll be attending within your coach application form.
Sunday, January 8th from 1:00 - 5:30 pm
Drury University, Freeman Panhellenic Hall, North Summit Ave, Springfield, MO
Sunday, February 12th from 1:00-5:30pm
Coaches may indicate a preference for the site at which they would like to coach. If coaches do not have a preference, we will assign them to a location in need of volunteers.
All program materials are provided. Coaches are responsible for purchasing snacks for each session. A site allowance for snacks is provided in the form of a gift card. Coaches must provide receipts for all snack purchases.
